Our Story

Winterton Primary began in 1905 as Morea, a small school serving just a few local children. Over the years, it has grown alongside the community, moving from simple beginnings to the modern, vibrant school it is today.

While much has changed since those early days, our commitment remains the same: to provide quality education in a safe, caring environment. We honour our traditions while preparing learners for the future, ensuring every child grows into a confident, responsible leader.

Our Approach

We follow the CAPS curriculum, combining strong academics with sport, culture, and life skills. Small classes and dedicated teachers ensure that every learner receives the support they need to reach their full potential.

Guided by our core values of respect, responsibility, and care, we create an environment where children grow not only in knowledge, but also in character and confidence.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to nurture today’s learners into tomorrow’s responsible leaders. At Winterton Primary, we don’t just focus on academic success — we focus on the whole child. We aim to build resilience, confidence, and a sense of responsibility that extends beyond the classroom.

Through strong teaching, supportive values, and a caring environment, we help learners discover their strengths, grow in character, and develop the skills they need to thrive in high school, in their communities, and in life.

We believe that every child carries unique potential, and it is our mission to guide them in fulfilling it — preparing them not only for the challenges of today, but also for the opportunities of tomorrow.
